Printed in Great Britain The Separation and Characterization of the MethylumbellUferyl P - Galactosidases of Human Liver
نویسنده
چکیده
1. A previously uncharacterized form of human liver acid ,B-galactosidase (EC 3.2.1.23), possibly a dimer of molecular weight 160000, was resolved by gel filtration. It has the same ability to hydrolyse GM, ganglioside as the two other acid ,B-galactosidase forms. 2. The low-molecular-weight forms of acid 8-galactosidase undergo salt-dependent aggregation. 3. The high-molecular-weight component may consist of the low-molecularweight forms bound to membrane fragments. It can be converted completely into a mixture of these forms. 4. The neutral ,B-galactosidase activity can be resolved into two forms by DEAE-cellulose chromatography. They differ in their response to C1ions. 5. A new nomenclature is suggested for the six fl-galactosidases so far found in human liver. 6. The enzymic constituents of the fi-galactosidase bands resolved by electrophoresis were re-examined. The A band contains three components. A two-dimensional electrophoretic procedure for resolving the A band is described. 7. The effect of neuraminidase treatment on the behaviour of f-galactosidases in various separation systems is examined.

Identification and Characterization of a High Vancomycin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Harboring VanA Gene Cluster Isolated from Diabetic Foot Ulcer
Objective(s) Staphylococcus aureus is a common cause of human infection, and emergence of vancomycin-resistance S. aureus is a great concern for treatment of methicillin-resistant S. aureus,(MRSA) in recent years (MRSA). Here, we report the isolation of high-level VRSA. Materials and Methods S. aureus was isolated from foot ulcer of a diabetic woman in Tehran, Iran. Antibiotic susceptibilit...
متن کاملSituation and Text: Representation of Migrants Whilst the Escalation of Refugee Crisis in Great Britain as Compared to Russia
Increasing migration is a vital concern for a globalizing sociocultural environment in today’s world. The UK and developed European countries have become an attractive destination for asylum seekers (labelled as “migrants”) in the past decade. The rapid rise in the number of asylum seekers, which was labelled “migration crisis” (Ruz, 2015), made this topic an integral part of scientific discuss...
متن کاملEpic Heroes in Ossian by Macpherson and Shahnameh by Firdausi
Nationalist sentiments characterize the Scotish James Macpherson’s Ossianic tales and the Persian Abul-Ghasim Ferdausi’s Shahnameh. Macpherson is remembered for his role in the nationalist Gaelic revival against the cultural dominance of Great Britain and Ferdausi is credited for enlivening Persian language and culture at the time of Arab dominance. However, Macpherson’s dual position, both as ...
متن کاملThe effect of Inorganic Nanoparticles on Camouflage Properties of Cotton/Polyester Fabrics
Drawing upon reflectance behavior of woodland colors involving dark brown in the UV-Vis-IR bands, two colored pigments were used to print cotton/polyester Co/PET goods. Inorganic nanoparticles of TiO2, ZnO and AL2O3 were also loaded onto the printing formulation. The reflectance profile of treated samples was studied using Jasco V-670 reflectance spectrophotometer. SEM analysis of printed fabri...
متن کاملDevelopment and Characterization of Nanocomposite Membranes based on Chitosan, Polystyrene and Montmorillonite for Pervaporation Separation of Phenol and Chlorophenols from Water
The novel nanocomposite membranes were successfully prepared by the incorporation of different concentrations (5, 10, and 15 wt%) of montmorillonite (MMT) as a nanoadditive into a blend of chitosan/polystyrene (CS/PS) at a ratio of 3:1 on the basis of solution-casting method and they were subsequently used for the separation of phenol, p-chlorophenol, and 2,4-dichlorophenol from water through p...
